How to Take Care of Your Toothbrush?
Posted on 7/18/2022 by Dr. Chad Rebhun
Toothbrushes are very important for cleaning our teeth. But do we think of taking care of them. They should be given great care or else they might not serve you as well as you want. We are going to take you through toothbrush care.
Ways to Keep Toothbrush Clean
Your toothbrush should not be used for a long period of time. Some signs of an overused toothbrush are bent and frayed bristles .The brush may have some missing bristles. Some brushes have a faded color on the bristles .These are signs that you should look for a new toothbrush. Annually a toothbrush should be replaced thrice. Your toothbrush needs to be stored well in a cool, dry place. You should rinse with water well after use and store it preferably vertically. The brush should be allowed to dry between uses for it to be fresh and bacteria-free. Do not use toothbrush covers or keep them in closed lockers.
Regular cleaning of the toothbrush is important. You can use two teaspoons of baking soda solution to soak your toothbrush. The bristles can be soaked in vinegar weekly. You can also soak the toothbrush in denture cleaning solution. The toothbrush should be left in a place with constant air flow after use. You can also soak the toothbrush in mouthwash solution for a minute.
You should wash your hands before and after using your toothbrush. The clean hands will reduce chances of passing bacteria to the brush and from it. After getting sick you should work on replacing the toothbrush. The brush could contain the bacteria causing the disease. You should be gently when cleaning your teeth. Brushing the teeth vigorously will lead to wear and tear while destroying the enamels.
The dentist will advise you on which toothbrush and kinds of toothpaste to use. You should get regular dental checkups for better dental care. Consult with our team of professionals for checkups.
