We will look at the tooth or the impaction area, plus feel around to see what we can do about the tooth. Some people can have their impacted teeth pulled into their proper positions, while others will need those teeth extracted. However, treatment of the tooth is essential for the overall health of your mouth. Ignoring the impaction typically leads to one of the following issues: gum disease, infections of the mouth, tumor growth, or tooth decay.

While you cannot prevent an impacted tooth, you can diagnose and treat it. The earlier the problem is diagnosed, the easier it usually is to treat. Sometimes surgery is necessary to treat the tooth, while other times, extraction is the only safe option.
